so fresh and so clean

We finally took on the laundry room this weekend and the results are just wonderful. I started painting it a couple months back, but needed Mark's help to move the washer/dryer and finish the job. It's chalkboard paint, but I haven't told the boys yet... savoring the neat and tidyness first!
It's stark, it's glam... it's Laundry Day!

in progress

Not sure if you'd call it ADHD or IDHD (Interior Decorating Hyperactivity Disorder), but I usually have 5 or 6 projects going on in our house at a time.

Right now:
1) Dining Room Status: wallpaper ordered!! (So excited!)
2) Laundry Room - Status: paint almost complete
3) Long Hallway- Status: in search of another solution for runner/rug
4) Butler's Pantry- Status: in search of light fixture, mirror, and bar tray
5) Sammy's Room- Status: hiatus- waiting for inspiration- and to decide how long he'll occupy this room!
6) Back Patio- Status: in search of filler/gravel/rock for in between pavers+ creating landscape design

Now that I think about it... there are quite a few more... Oh dear!

decor bit: jewelry cubby

Announcing a new element to this smattering of decor advice that is colorinthecircle... decor bits!
Quick pics of arrangements or blurbs on ideas that could change your life! Okay, maybe not change your life, but just make it a bit prettier/more interesting/more functional and more FUN!
Here's decor bit numero uno!

Jewelry Cubby- Clear out a space in a cabinet or armoire in your bedroom or bath. (Mine is inside a vintage armoire in our bedroom.) Make sure the display will be at eye level. Lay out your necklaces, hang them from hooks or pushpins, add a mirror to the back of the shelf. Rings and bracelets can slide neatly over knick knacks and souvenirs. Play around with the arrangement, layering colors and materials. Have fun and feel happy every time you accessorize!

bright and shiny

I am in love with these bench/tables... not sure if they are mirrored, brushed aluminum or chrome... but they are just so alluring!

The only trouble is, I have no idea where to find these bench/table lovlies. Do you?

event: crystal bash

I chaired the planning committee for Women & Their Work Gallery's big spring fundraiser the Crystal Bash. It was held at the stunning home of Alexa and Blaine Wesner in Westlake. This house is a modernist's dream with all the thoughtful design measures taken to consider that they are a young family of five. We are so grateful to the Wesners for sharing their home with us for a night! A few pics of the house from chictips.com:

And some pics of our decor- "Crystal" sculptures balanced on blue glowing tables. Opalescent orbs suspended from the trees. Crisp white linens juxtaposed against the city skyline. It was a truly lovely affair!

nodding off

We are in somewhat of a holding pattern with our boys' sleeping arrangements. Eventually they will share a room, but for now it's best for all if Thing 2 doesn't awaken Thing 1 and vice versa.

The little guy just transitioned to a toddler bed. His room is huge and really needs a normal sized bed or other furniture piece to really ANCHOR it. Instead, I bought this canvas print from Land of Nod:
WallArt_Banner_GrandCanvas_Anchor_LL
He loves it... and while I don't think that I want to go totally nautical with his room, I also ran across this pin the other day, originally from Land of Nod.

I am also in love with their American Walnut Ellipse line of furnishings. Walnut is one of the most striking woods... and of course I love the "Nod" to danish modern design. (Yes, I do love to play on words. Apologies if you find it silly.) Land of Nod has my nod of approval. www.Landofnod.com Tune back in to see how the little man's room evolves!614561_Bed_Ellipse_TW
